ECSAAG works with a number of agencies to help ensure community members have access to the resources they need to achieve wellness and wholeness. Eaton County Mental Health Directory is a comprehensive guide to mental health care providers, local support groups, psychiatric assessment, crisis prevention services, substance use disorder treatment, grief groups, veterans programs and much more.


Prevention

Eaton RESA Prevention Program Services is a leader in connecting school and community initiatives to support the goal of preventing risky behaviors and negative health outcomes in youth. Staff provide: Early intervention for truancy and substance use; suicide prevention; social, emotional, and mental health promotion; case management for pregnant and parenting teens; comprehensive school health education; HIV, STI, and pregnancy prevention; parenting education; and community awareness and substance use disorder prevention education.​http://www.eatonresa.org/services/prevention/

​Prevention Network is a statewide organization of volunteers and professionals that supports substance use/misuse prevention and related efforts in Michigan. Provides services which build the capacity of diverse grassroots groups to carry out effective local solutions. Coordinates statewide awareness and advocacy initiatives. www.preventionnetwork.org

Treatment and Recovery 

CMHA-CEI provides a wide range mental health and substance abuse services to the residents of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties. CMHA-CEI provides crisis services, adult and children's mental health treatment, family interventions, developmentally disabled services and a wide range of community initiatives. ​Child and Family Charities (Ingham County) offers substance abuse and co-occurring substance abuse and mental health counseling services for adolescents and adults.  Referrals are accepted from young people themselves, from parents, schools, probation officers, physicians or anyone concerned.  Services are available to youth from Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties. Most insurances are accepted and there is a sliding fee scale for those uninsured or with limited income. Services are available to all regardless of religion, race/ethnicity, gender, age, or sexual orientation or gender identity.

Services include:
  • Comprehensive assessment with recommendations
  • Individual Therapy
  • Family Therapy
  • Group Therapy
  • Early Intervention Group (for youth age 13 – 15 who do not need treatment services)

Support Groups

AA, Alanon and Alateen are support groups to help support people in recovery and those who care about them using the 12-step model. SMART Recovery is a self-empowering recovery support group. Participants learn tools for substance use disorder-recovery based on the latest scientific research and participate in a world-wide community which includes free, self-empowering, science-based mutual help groups. Narcotics Anonymous is a support group for people recovering from drug use disorders.  Mi-NA.org is dedicated to helping people to overcome the problems of addiction by providing a statewide website to help recovering people find meetings and local NA functions in their communities. http://michigan-na.org/ 

Eaton County Services

Barry-Eaton District Health Department is a public health service agency. The organization aims to protect and improve the health of Barry and Eaton Counties through education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and implementation of effective policies and programs for individuals, families, businesses, and communities. The health department conducts a wide variety of services; from restaurant food safety inspections to the WIC nutrition program. www.barryeatonhealth.org

​The Eaton County Great Start Collaborative will work to insure that every child in Eaton County enters school optimally prepared to learn and grow to the best of his/her ability. ​The Tri-County Office On Aging ​helps promote and preserve the independence and dignity of the aging population. To accomplish this mission, the organization connects people who need help to service providers, volunteers, donors, businesses and governments throughout Eaton, Clinton, and Ingham Counties, and the Cities of Lansing and East Lansing. Many of the organization's services are provided at no or low-cost, or have fees based on a sliding scale. www.tcoa.org

Eaton Rapids Health Alliance is a multi-sector coalition working to enhance and preserve the health of those who live, work, and play in Eaton Rapids. Opioid and Rx Abuse Prevention

Capital Area Take-Back Meds is a program to help people locate the nearest safe disposal sites for their unwanted prescription medications: http://www.takebackmeds.org/drop-off-locations

Eaton County Prescription Take-Back Locations (File below) lists all pharmacies, stores, and municipal sites that take back unused or unwanted controlled and non-controlled substances. Gives locations, hours open and contact information.

Chronic Pain Personal Action Toward Health (Chronic Pain PATH) is Michigan’s name for the Stanford Chronic Pain Self-Management Program (CPSMP). Chronic Pain PATH is a six-week workshop conducted in 2 ½ hour sessions in community settings. The program was developed and rigorously tested by Stanford University to help people learn the techniques and strategies they need for the day-to-day management of pain. ​SAMSHA is the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration website page. Find the latest information about national programs/initiatives, resources and research about substance use disorder treatment and prevention. www.samhsa.gov/

The National Institute on Drug Abuse website brings the power of science to bear on substance use disorders and addiction. Information for teens, parents and professionals is readily available on this site in an easy-to-read and interactive format. www.drugabuse.gov/

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is an organization dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide by raising awareness, promoting advocacy and providing resources to communities. afsp.org/

Tobacco-Free Michigan is a coalition that works to prevent and reduce tobacco use and its harmful effects in all Michigan communities through education, networking, advocacy and dissemination of research data, with a specific focus on vulnerable populations heavily targeted by the tobacco industry. www.tobaccofreemichigan.org

The Partnership for Drug Free Kids is a national organization with a wealth of resources and support available to all. It provides free trained and caring master’s-level counselors who are ready to help any parent struggling with a child’s drug or alcohol use.
